LOVE OF PLEASURE IN THE BOX

Upon request, Petra will be happy to put together gift packages with our products and regional specialties: wine, sparkling, frizzante, distillates, our homemade pumpkin seed oil and nibble seeds (...)

Origin

Beginning with the 2018 vintage, a new era in the history of Styrian wine begins, the product of decades-long development: Together with Southern and Western Styria, Vulkanland Steiermark has been raised to the DAC ranks, thereby becoming established in the Styrian wine code. If you are as confused by the new designations on the label as Petra and Walter appear on the photo above, here you will find an explanation.

The designation DAC may be used in Styria exclusively by nine wines typical of the region: Welschriesling, Weissburgunder, Morillon, Sauvignon blanc, Muskateller, Traminer, Grauburgunder, Riesling and Schilcher (only in Western Styria).

Single-Vineyard Wines – Riedenweine
Complex wines with a strong personality from our best vineyards, predominantly from old grapevines. STK wine estates are further subdivided as follows:

Grand Cru STK: Explicitly very valuable wines produced in a favorable microclimate and harvested late. The vines must be at least 15 years old, production is limited to 4500 l per hectare. Market presence at least 10 years, vinification / maturation at least 18 months. Available on 1 May at the earliest.
Here with us: Ried Buch

Premier Cru STK: Single-vineyard wines of outstanding quality. Minimum age of the vines 12 years, production limited to 4500 l per hectare. Market presence at least 5 years, vinification/maturation at least 11 months. Available from 1 September of the year following harvest.
Here with us: Ried Stradener Rosenberg

Straden village wines– Ortsweine”)
Fruitilly elegant yet an expressive »middle ground« between our classic wines matured in steel tanks and “Ried” wines. The basis is provided by younger vines from the two vineyards. Available from 1 May of the year following harvest.

Vulkanland Steiermark Regional WinesGebietsweine
Fruitilly-fresh, typical Styrian wines. Available from 1 March of the year following harvest (except for Welschriesling = after 1 December of the year when harvested).

Styrian Regional Wines
Quality wines included in our diverse palette, produced from grape varieties that are not part of the DAC system. Here, our spectrum ranges from light summer wines to high-quality reds.

Welcome to our Farm Shop

Sample, chat, learn: We love to take time for visitors at our farm shop in Karbach. Emmi’s parents’ farm isn’t only ideal for a shop offering wine, pumpkinseed oil, distillates and nuts to snack on – it also provides ample space for exhibitions, tastings and good conversations.

We are also happy to host guided tastings by appointment.
